Please email me your prayer requests.

Day : 1

"O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water." (Psalm 63 verse 1) Ask God to create in you that hunger for Him that the Psalmist speaks of, and pray that you will not be satisfied until you have laid hold of Him.

Please pray too that God will supply a new missionary midwife. Pray for a lady delivered of her eleventh baby at the Clinic: her husband was shot dead eight months previously. Give thanks for Vanessa, a dwarf, rejected by her mother and brought up by grandparents. She recently accepted the Lord and is attending church and involved with the young people’s group, and being helped with her education by Mavis. Give thanks for the commitment and support of the team of midwives.

Thank God for Christians coming here from other nations, and pray for unity in the Gospel.

Day : 5

Thank God for Christian schools workers, those who go into schools to take assemblies or Christian Unions, and for the witness of Christian staff. Pray too for Christian children growing up in a secular environment, that they may not be ashamed to talk about their faith with their friends and that they will be strong to resist the temptation of following friends into ungodly ways. Pray that they will develop wholesome friendships with other Christians so that they can encourage one another when the going gets tough.

Day : 6

Please pray for Pentecost, to be held in London 9 – 11 May: for the last –minute preparations, for the leaders and venues to be appropriate, and for the Holy Spirit to draw people, both Christians and others, into the events and to meet with the Lord Jesus. Day : 7

Steve, Rosalind and Laura Bagwell, with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Nairobi, Kenya, report the dedication of the Ngiemboon New Testament translation in Cameroon and also the Digo New Testament. Pray that many would be transformed by God’s Word in their own language. Give thanks that funding has been found for recording the Jesus film in the Tembo and Fuliiru languages. Pray for guidance for Steve’s future role and for Laura doing well at school. Please pray for peace and stability in Kenya in the wake of the disturbances following the elections earlier in the year.

Day : 8

Day : 9

Please pray for the different regional MET events taking place throughout the year, that they may be well attended and be used by God to feed people from His Word and to encourage and stimulate prayer. Pray for those leading these events, that they may be sensitive to God’s Spirit and to the needs of those attending.

Pray for Christian police officers, that they may have a strong and effective witness among their colleagues, and thank God for the Christian Police Association and for other Christian workplace organisations, and pray that they will have a valuable role in bringing together Christians in their particular spheres of work, and be a means of reaching out to colleagues who are not believers.

Day : 11

Thank God for the new wave of prayer which has come to this country in recent years through initiatives like Prayer Week and Global Day of Prayer. Ask God to continue to pour out a spirit of intercession on His people, that more and more might catch the vision and come together in prayer.

Day : 12

Thank God for evangelism initiatives among the older members of our society, and pray that churches will be stirred up to find ways of reaching the elderly for Christ. Ask God to give us a sense of urgency for those who are nearing the end of their earthly lives. Take some time too to thank God for those older members of your church who are such an example of Christian living over many years, and pray for those you know who may be housebound and lonely.

Day : 13

Remember today in your prayers Jannine and Bassey Ebenso (The Leprosy Mission, Nigeria). Give thanks for their report that projects have received increased finances from government partners following last year’s elections, as more money has been made available for health and education. These projects have included the renovation of the National TB and Leprosy Training Centre and the Hospital, the printing of one thousand training manuals teaching health workers about leprosy, the establishment of more than ten self – care groups in Nigeria and Niger Republic, and the provision of eye surgery in three hospitals.

Day : 14

Day : 15

Thank God that Christians are obedient to His call to work with the marginalised: asylum seekers, the homeless, sex workers, those with dependency problems and ex-offenders. Pray for them in their work, that they may persevere despite the inevitable discouragements and that they may radiate God’s love to those around them.

Day : 16

Continue to pray for Hope 08. Ask God to use this to encourage churches in evangelism within their local areas, and pray that He will use it to bring people to faith in Him.

Day : 17

In a society where human life is increasingly devalued and debased, pray for Christians working in medicine and in science, that God would give them wisdom and discernment in what are often complex ethical issues, and the courage to stand up for their convictions.

Day : 18

Thank God for His Word, and for those who faithfully preach and expound it. Pray that we may all be hungry to study and to learn from Him, and ask Him to continue to raise up in our church and in the other churches of this land ministers and preachers who love the Bible. In a culture which deviates so much from scriptural principles, ask Him to make us strong so that we may stand firmly on Biblical teaching.

Day : 19

The School of Nursing library has been extended and they hope to buy a bus for students to visit various institutions and projects. Barbara is thankful that the Presiding Bishop was re-elected, as was the local Bishop at the Methodist Church Annual Conference.

Day : 20

Bring before God those ministers moving circuits this September, that they may have a real sense of completion of the tasks God has set before them in their current appointments and of anticipation of how He will use them when they move. Pray too for your own minister and family, that they will know God’s direction and encouragement in their lives and ministries.

Day : 21

Remember in prayer our brothers and sisters both overseas and in this country who are being persecuted for the sake of the Gospel, that God will sustain them through their ordeals and that through their faithful witness under suffering the church would flourish. Pray too for our own situation, that we may never grow complacent in our freedom to meet openly for worship and to read the Bible, and that we may realise the true value of this.

Day : 22

Please pray for Conference, to be held in Scarborough 3 – 10 July. Pray for wisdom, discernment and humility in all those attending, that decisions reached will be firmly based on scriptural principles and that the Holy Spirit will bring a real sense of unity in the work and a concern to bring others into the Kingdom. Pray too for the MET Conference Event and for Richard Saunders-Hindley, whose responsibility on the MET Executive is for Conference.

Day : 24

Continue to pray that God will send revival, on us, our churches and our land. Pray that churches will be filled by those earnestly seeking the Lord and lives transformed.

Day : 25

Remember in prayer the MP for your constituency and your local councillors, and pray too for those Christians who hold public office, that through them God’s voice will be clearly heard. Thank God for the campaigning organisations who do so much to give a clear and consistent Christian message when matters are brought before Parliament which are contrary to Biblical teaching.

Day : 26

Continue to pray for the MET Executive, and especially Paul Wilson as Chair, the two Vice Chairs, Sue Dunstan and Lou Ashford, and Richard Iball as General Secretary. Pray for parents in these families bringing up children, that they may be a witness to Christ in their actions as well as their words; pray too for marriages where one of the spouses is not a Christian.

Day : 29

Continue to thank God for the work of prison chaplains, and pray that they may be able to stand clearly for the Gospel while maintaining good working relationships with their colleagues of other faiths. Pray for those men and women who come to faith while in prison, that they may be strengthened by the Holy Spirit to resist the temptations awaiting them on release, and that they will maintain a steady walk with the Lord Jesus.

Day : 30

Thank God for Christians who are taking a lead in promoting Fairtrade and in reducing carbon emissions; pray that we would all have a sense of responsibility towards others and towards our environment, and that we would take active steps to re-evaluate our lifestyles.

Day : 31

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade – kept in heaven for you” (1 Peter chapter 1 verses 3 and 4). Thank God again at the end of the month for Jesus’ death on your behalf and for His glorious resurrection, and praise Him for all the benefits that have accrued to you through this, both now and in eternity.
